Tell us a little bit about yourself

I am 25 years old. I moved to the Gold Coast when I was 19 to study Urban and Environmental Planning at Uni. I moved from a small town in NSW called South West Rocks, where I grew up swimming in the ocean, spending time in nature and enjoying life with my family and friends. I am an excitable and caring person that is always up for a laugh, but I cry almost every time I see a homeless person or watch the news. I love every song ever made by Ziggy Alberts, love a good cab sav and I have the most loving family and friends.

What are 3 things you are most passionate about & why?

  1. The environment because I understand what she’s going through

  2. Making people smile because everyone deserves to be happy

  3. Being open about mental health because talking about it actually helps

What inspires you?

I’ve never really thought about it but I think a lot of what I feel and think stems from compassion and love.

Can you talk us through a challenge you have overcome and how did you do it?

I have always had anxiety but about a year ago I was in a really strange place and just didn’t feel like myself. I was tired, cried all the time and felt more anxious than normal and I didn’t know why. I felt like I was being selfish for feeling like that, when I know I am so privileged and there are other people out there that have it way harder than me. I overcome this phase by acknowledging that it was a phase and getting help from a psychologist. I couldn’t have done all this though without my loving boyfriend sticking by me through the tough times, my beautiful family always checking in, and my caring friends who were always there to talk.

Also anti anxiety/depressant medication really helped ;)

What are your favourite things to do for yourself?

I think practicing self care is the best thing you can do for yourself and the people you love. One of the best things I learnt growing up was to be more selfish, and to do more things for myself. My favourite self care rituals are meditating, watching netflix without guilt and getting fresh air.

Where is your happy place?

My happy places are the ocean, rainforests and siting around a campfire.

What are the goals you have set for yourself in the future?

Short term, I want to do more of what I love like going camping and travelling. Long term I want to feel accomplished in my career and be surrounded by the people that I love.
