Larissa Klerk

Tell us a little bit about yourself….

Hello! I'm Larissa, I'm 26 years old and was born and bred on the sunny Gold Coast. Since a young age, I always had big dreams for myself (still do) as I believe I'm destined to do great things. Being a Pisces woman I often think and feel things very deeply, which has it's pros and cons, and I'm still trying to figure it all out. I have a unique, amazing family and group of friends whom I love dearly. My nicknames consist of Larry, Laz and Riss so take your pick, I like them all!

What are 3 things you are passionate about and why?

1. Organising and attending events - It's very rewarding to see all the hard work come together to form one experience and it's cool to see people unite for a common purpose. I love seeing people have a great time.

2. Travel - Because it opens our minds up to new sights, different cultures and people. It also makes us appreciate and celebrate our own homes.

3. Food - Food brings people together! It's exciting and brings joy to our lives. The power of whole foods and what they can do for our bodies and our minds is astounding as well.

How and when do you feel loved?

When my boyfriend, Brock, kisses me on my cheek or forehead - bless. I also feel loved by my girlfriends who regularly shower me in positive affirmations and support.

Where is your favourite place you have travelled to and your favourite story from that place?

This is a REALLY hard question Alicia!! It's hard to go past New York City. I think I've been there about 5 times and I also lived there for 2 months when I was 20. Some friends and I did an internship program and it was the time of my life! I interned at a Destination Management Company based in Times Square. We organised events and incentive trips for big companies and it was actually around the time of the 2014 SuperBowl which was a huge deal for people. I would run errands around the city and go and collect SuperBowl tickets for clients (worth thousands of dollars) - it was all very lavish. Outside of work we would explore all that the city had to offer - speakeasy bars, musicals, drag shows, food markets, nightclubs, Central Park, famous landmarks, museums, basketball games, shopping districts, old school diners and music gigs. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

What inspires you?

I am so inspired by live music. I live for that feeling of expression through dancing and singing along to your favourite songs. The smiles on people's faces, the whole body goosebumps and that moment that the lights go down and your favourite artist / band is about to appear on stage - it's the best! I'm currently trying to pursue a career in live entertainment :)

What goals have you set for yourself in the future?

I had a lot of goals for 2020! Some of them were/are:

☆ To balance 'media time' with more mentally beneficial activities like reading, meditation or beach walking

☆ Make small changes in my everyday routine that can have a positive impact on the environment

☆ Watch 10 old school / classic movies that I've never seen before - so far I've watched The Goonies, Ghostbusters (the original) and Beverley Hills Cop

What are you grateful for?

I'm grateful for where I live - it's clean, safe and has so many natural beauties! My relationship with Brock - he provides me with so much support and always makes me laugh. A healthy, functioning body that allows me to do whatever I please. Also my bed - I have a Koala mattress (SO comfy) and it's genuinely just my happy place.

Tell us something that brought a smile to your face recently.

I've been feeling extra anxious lately and I was listening to a podcast whilst walking on the beach. The podcast was about 'owning our anxiety' and it made me feel like I am not alone in what I'm feeling. It was empowering to know that so many people have gone through similar things. It brought a weird smile to my face and a mini cry of relief.
