Tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is Lane, I go by the artist name Saint Lane and I am a rapper, singer, songwriter, executive producer and I've dabbled in a bit of stand up comedy in my time too.
What inspires you most when creating new music?
Whatever is happening in my life at the time usually takes up my musical mind. My music is very autobiographical
What is the most powerful quality someone can have?
Empathy
What is something people assume about you that is false?
I think a lot of people think I'm some egocentric maniac because of a few interviews but in reality I just believe in myself and people are systemically told to not believe in themselves so they see me and take it as arrogance instead of self belief.
If you could give your younger self any advice, what would you say to him?
I used to be in a duo and we would open for an act then we would go home because I thought our job was done. Little did I know is after the set is when the real job begins. NETWORK. NETWORK. NETWORK.
What is something powerful you believe?
I believe in karma. Huge fan of karma. I'm always trying to balance that shit out.
A challenge you have had to overcome in your life & how did you do it?
First thing that comes to mind definitely isn't the biggest challenge but people really confidentially said I wouldn't get into uni when I was wrapping up high school. I literally used that energy as fuel to pass the entry test.
Tell us something that brought a smile to your face this week
I met Darryn Lockyer today at Rick Shores and he purchased a takeaway martini and it was served in a plastic bag. I was going to live my life without telling anybody had it not been for this interview.
